Nice Curves!

Sinuous furnishings create soft and inviting lines in our rooms

Autumn is here, even though it seems like yesterday when we were all wishing for some heat. While I enjoy summer for its greenery and outdoor activities, I absolutely love the fall. The crisp air, warm sweaters and the colours. Those deep, dark, jewel tones reign supreme and I can’t get enough of them.

Lucky for me that the current design palette is trending toward emerald green and deep purple. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if green were the 2021 colour of the year.

Another design surprise is the popularity of all things curved. It seems that curves are not only beautiful on women but in design as well. Here are a few of my favorite curvaceous furnishings.

AUDREY MOTION Sofa

The modular Audrey Motion sofa, designed by Massimo Castagna, has a wood structure and a black lacquered wood base. Perfect for contemporary homes, this sofa’s gentle curves add softness to a room. Backrest cushions are supplied, and decorative cushions may be made by request. It’s also available in a wide variety of fabrics and leathers.

The KUMI Credenza

Designed by Carlo Colombo, the KUMI curved credenza is beautiful and practical. With doors, drawers, interior shelves and an open module, there is plenty of storage area, and the black or lacquered open-pore ash finish lends a handcrafted look to this piece. It may be topped with marble or painted glass depending on the finish.

LIVRE Armchair

The LIVRE armchair, designed by Federica Biasi, is the latest in Italian design. A wood and metal internal structure is combined with non-deformable foam to keep your chair looking great throughout the years. A solid wood base in black lacquered open-pore ash offers the finishing touch. Available in a wide variety of fabrics and leathers. Covers are removable.

ROUNDCUT Shelves

The modular Roundcut shelving system, designed by Studiopepe, is crafted of marble and hand-burnished steel. The marble is available in white Carrara, Nero Marquina, Calacatta Vagli Oro, Stardust, Verde Alpi, brushed Travertino Romano, Fior di Pesco or in extra-light mirror. Shelves may be fitted in two locations (with shelf above or below). •

*All products are manufactured by Gallotti&Radice and are available at Charles Virone Concept in Montreal, Quebec; Plan B Office and Studio B in Toronto, Ontario; and Livingspace in Vancouver, British Columbia.
