It’s not every day that a designer’s budget triples in size. But that’s what happened when interior designer Eric McClelland presented new plans to the owners of a 12,000-square-foot home in Vaughan.
McClelland, owner and principal designer at Fleur de lis Interior Design, had been hired to renovate the kitchen and decorate the rest of the home. His clients, a couple who had just moved in with a baby and a young child, wanted a modern look. “The space was outdated and very ’80s,” McClelland says. To update the house properly, he knew it needed more than what they had requested and persuaded them to go further by opening up the entire place.
“I showed them what they could have,” he says.
