Keep it Clean

Using UV light is an excellent way to sanitize a smartphone

As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, one thing that is constantly on our minds is how to stay safe. And one item that is often overlooked for a clean-up is our smartphone.

The smartphone is not just a useful tool; it has become an extension of ourselves. No one leaves home without it. It’s used to make phone calls, take photographs, read email and send texts. It is always in our hands. And our hands touch many, many surfaces in a day. So why are we not as preoccupied with cleaning our phones as we are with washing our hands? One reason may be that we don’t want to drench our phones in alcohol.

Enter the PhoneSoap Smartphone Sanitizer.

The PhoneSoap Sanitizer uses ultraviolet light to eliminate 99.99 per cent of bacteria on a phone and its case. It’s equipped with two charging ports and an acoustic audio amplifier, which allows you to charge your phone, listen to music and hear notifications during the sanitation process. PhoneSoap On-the-Go has a built-in rechargeable battery so it can sanitize and charge a smartphone away from home.

The PhoneSoap Smartphone Sanitizer is available in Canada at Best Buy (with the exception of Quebec) but it can also be ordered from Uncommon Goods in the USA, which now ships to Canada.

Another alternative is the Bluehive, also a phone sanitizer that uses UV light, has a wireless charger, and is available at Canadian Tire.  •
