Today, gardens are multi-purpose areas that reflect personal interests and personalities, and are often used for the same activities that take place indoors. A garden can serve as a much-needed retreat that – when well-designed and decorated – can help to increase a home’s liveable space.

V – Vegetable Patch: Reconnect with the earth by designing your own vegetable garden. It’s so satisfying to go into the backyard to collect fresh, enviro-friendly, GMO-free, organic produce that you cultivated from seed. A veggie patch offers colour, texture and fragrance.
Choose from tomatoes, peppers, beans, squash, cucumbers, carrots, leeks, and such leafy greens as lettuce, chard and kale to create a living work of art. A vegetable patch needn’t occupy a lot of space. Use simple garden boxes, which can be staggered or tiered, and pots, if space is limited .
Avoid sewing too many seeds at once — you don’t want to feel overwhelmed. Start small, and gradually add to your garden. This will allow you to gauge how much time and effort you need to devote to your new edible garden.
